Wireless Router Manufacturer Warns Consumers To Avoid Router Placement in Children’s Bedrooms
and Living Areas in Order To Keep Wi-Fi Radiation Exposure As Low As Possible
Telekom informs consumers that their router has transmitting antennas that send and receive wireless radiation and warns consumers that the Speedport Smart Wi-Fi router should not be placed in children’s bedrooms or common living spaces in order to minimize exposure to the wireless electromagnetic radiation. This warning adds additional consumer information to the prior fine print instructions stated by most Wi-Fi routers manufacturers to maintain at at least 20 cm (about 8 inch) distance from Wi-Fi routers in order to stay within as tested distances for radio frequency radiation human exposure regulatory compliance.
This additional information seems to acknowledge that children’s exposure to wireless radiation should be minimized.
The user manual of the Telekom Speedport Smart router (German) states:
The integrated antennas of your Speedport transmit and receive wireless signals, for example, to provide Wi-Fi connectivity. Avoid placing your Speedport in close proximity to bedrooms, children’s rooms, as well as common rooms and lounges to keep the exposure to electromagnetic field as low as possible.”
