Pittsfield Massachusetts Mayor Peter Marchetti Proclaimed June 16, 2024 as Electromagnetic Sensitivity Day.  Sixteen year old Amelia Gilardi worked on the issue for her 10th grade civics project. Her family is one of several families that documented injury from a nearby cell tower leading to the Pittsfield Board of Health voting to send a cease and desist order to Verizon.

“This right here, tonight, this is enacting meaningful change. For my civics project, I am sharing my electromagnetic sensitivity story with our legislators and municipal leaders. I am advocating for the rights and protections for all those with EMS- an environmentally induced and preventable illness. Next week myself, along with youth across Massachusetts, will have meetings with our congressman and our representatives about diseases such as EMS, the pending bills and legislation we’ve been fighting for, and the actions they can take to move the wireless harms issue forward,” stated Amerlia Gilardi.

“No one should have to choose between their home or their health, their job or their health, their school or their health when these levels of manmade radio frequency radiation can be lowered, mitigated or removed, and yet these are the choices that myself, my children and those in the electrosensitive community must face every single day,” stated Courtney Gilardi.

Pittsfield Massachusetts policymakers have been involved in several efforts towards wireless accountability. Dr. Kulbergs Pittsfield Board of Health’s letter in Support of MA Commission on Wireless Radiation and stated to elected officials that “Massachusetts cannot wait for the FCC to act. We are asking to your strong support of this bill and for a favorable report out of the Committee on Consumer Protection.”

A 2022 Letter to the Massachusetts federal delegation by the Pittsfield City Council called for FCC accountability regarding its outdated wireless radiation limits.

EHT’s new President, Dr. Kent Chamberlin, who served on the New Hampshire Commission to Study the Health and Environmental Effects of 5G was present for the proclamation. “In the three years that have passed since I first started presenting the New Hampshire commission findings, there has been a sea change in how people are receiving the message. That reception has gone from outright skepticism to a genuine desire to learn more about what is increasingly being recognized as a public health issue,” he stated in his testimony.

EHTs Theodora Scarato and Dr. Devra Davis and numerous scientific and medical experts have been involved in educating local policymakers for years in the community where local residents have tirelessly worked to remedy the situation.

Pittsfield is one of numerous communities that have passed local Proclamations related to Electromagnetic Radiation Illness and Health.
