156 residents signed a petition against a cell tower extension on a Sugarloaf Mountain Road in California. County officials then postponed a decision on the plan until Sept. 15. A resident is applying to increase an existing 50-foot cellular tower to 70 feet, 5 inches.
The petition states, “The signs posted at the site show that the Tower is not registered with the FCC and have warnings regarding the Radio Frequencies and Diesel Fuel. How is this allowed where we live? You can bet the CEO of AT&T doesn’t have a tower in his backyard!”
“Thank you to the hundreds of people that wrote letters, signed this petition, and came to the public hearing. We the people have the power to effect change in this community and keep our rural areas just that – rural, ” stated Sugarloaf Mountain Road resident Gai Kirkengaard in an online statement.
The next public hearing on the cell tower is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. Sept. 15 at the County Planning Commission Hearing Room, 3091 County Center Drive, Auburn.
