The Nigerian Senate asked the Federal Government to suspend the planned deployment of the Fifth Generation Network in Nigeria.
The Senate asked its committees on Communication, Science, Technology and ICT, and that of Health to conduct a thorough investigation with a view to determining the status of the 5G network in the country.
The red chamber asked the relevant federal agencies to suspend the 5G deployment until a thorough investigation into the impacts for human health were completed. “Following growing concerns over the health implications of the 5G network, the Nigerian Government said it has not issued any licence for the deployment of the 5G network in the country. Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Ibrahim stated that government would always take the welfare, health and security of the public into account while considering the deployment of any technology.”
