Key Achievements of 2023
Our Scientists Published Groundbreaking Research on Wireless Radiation.
- Our experts published Wireless technologies, non-ionizing electromagnetic fields and children: Identifying and reducing health risks in Current Problems in Pediatric Adolescent Health Care, documenting the science and best practices for homes, schools, and hospitals.
We presented the science and policy at major professional conferences.
- EHT Founder and President Dr. Devra Davis delivered a technical presentation on children and wireless at the Collegium Ramazzini 2023 International Conference.
- EHT Executive Director Theodora Scarato presented to the American Public Health Association on “The Case to Mitigate Wireless Radiation in the School Setting” and she also presented at the Digital Media and Developing Minds Conference on protective policy for children on cell phones and Wi-Fi.
We Impacted Federal, State, and Local Policy Conversations on Technology.
Federal Level:
- Testified before the FDA Pediatric Advisory Committee and the White House Environmental Justice Advisory Council.
- Submitted hundreds of pages of scientific evidence about wireless to the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
- Submitted comments regarding federal funding for Wi-Fi on school buses and libraries.
- Created several factsheets for Congress on proposed federal bills that would fast-track wireless network nationwide.
- Launched letter-writing action tools for the public to request the U.S. Congress protect children and wildlife.
State Level:
- Testified to the Massachusetts State Joint Committee on Education on Best Management Practices for Wireless in Schools and to the Maine legislature on the proposed bill to Study the Effects of 5G Technology on Bird, Bee and Insect Populations and the Effects of Long-term Exposure on Children.
- Contacted every state PTA.
- We wrote every U.S. state educational authority (plus 73 colleges) on the issue of wireless radiation and safe technology.
- Submitted testimony in over 30 states calling for wired technology to be prioritized instead of wireless networks when dispersing the $42 Billion Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program federal funds.
Local Level:
- Presented alongside colleagues on health and environmental issues of 5G to Stamford, Connecticut lawmakers.
- Testified to the Montgomery County, Maryland State Delegation, advocating for urgent action to protect wildlife.
- Presented on cell tower radiation in countless community forums and meetings (over 40 in New York City alone) and sent scientific letters to numerous decision-makers. As a result, several of these communities chose to halt irresponsible cell tower placement.
We Created Knowledge Resources to Empower People With Scientific Facts.
- Our Wildlife and Wireless website lays out the case for action to protect wildlife from increasing radio frequency radiation exposures.
- Our Healthy Tech at Home Project website is regularly updated with new factsheets and resources. It gives families step-by-step tools to reduce wireless radiation in their homes.
