Protecting Children from effects of wireless
Radiofrequency radiation (RFR) has been proven to cause harm at intensities well below guidelines created by an international collection of self-appointed, industry-tied scientists (ICNIRP). The public’s exposure to RFR is rising with the deployment of 5G and children are at the forefront of this experiment with the construction of antennas within and near schools.
Adverse symptoms in response to even weak electromagnetic fields (EMFs) include headaches, insomnia, heart palpitations, tinnitus, and mood disturbance, but every biological system can be affected. The reaction is physical, not psychological, and is recognized by credible medical doctors’ groups and scientific panels throughout the world.
The telecom industry couches its efforts to bring Wi-Fi to schools everywhere as equitable and socially responsible, but the industry is putting children at risk. Children are more vulnerable because their exposures are higher and their brains and bodies are still developing. They will have a lifetime of exposure.
It is essential that urgent actions be taken to support vulnerable groups more appropriately in both medical and social forums. So what happens when an obvious public health crisis is ignored even when doctors everywhere have identified the cause? You start a wave of action designed to wake up public officials.

About Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe
Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe founded the Physicians’ Health Initiative for Radiation and the Environment (PHIRE) to light a fire under the medical community to teach them to identify symptoms and advocate on behalf of patients.
Dr. Mallery-Blythe has worked in hospital settings for years. More than a dozen years ago she began investigating nonionizing radiation’s effects and connecting the dots on the biological harms. Now she and more than a dozen scientific and medical organizations, including Environmental Health Trust, are calling for a moratorium on the deployment of 5G and for the withdrawal of Wi-Fi, wireless phones, and other RFR emissions from within and near schools.
PHIRE is also working to educate medical professionals on electromagnetic radiation-related illnesses and is demanding that policymakers take a zero-tolerance approach to industry influence on public health policy.
Dr. Erica Mallery-Blythe, BSBM, is the founder and director of the United Kingdom’s Physicians’ Health Initiative for Radiation and Environment (PHIRE). Mallery-Blythe, is a U.K.-trained medical doctor with an expertise in hospital emergency trauma medicine. She has more than a decade of experience working in hospitals in various disciplines, including surgery, anesthesiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and intensive care for both neonatal and adult patients.
In 2008, she began researching biological effects of non-ionizing radiation. This research included copious literature appraisals and her own research, including provocation testing of patients with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity (EHS). She has provided expert witness testimony regarding EHS and been invited to discuss the public health concerns of non-ionizing radiation exposure at the highest levels of government, both in the U.K. and in Europe.
