American Academy of Pediatrics  President Dr. Robert Block Letter to FCC Chair Julius Genachowski on Cell Phone Radio Frequency Radiation

On July 12, 2012 American Academy of Pediatrics  President Dr. Robert Block wrote a letter to FCC Chair Julius Genachowski stating that:

  • The FCC has not assessed the standard since 1996.
  • The FCC exposure limit is based on heat.
  • Concerns have been raised that long term RF exposure affects the brain and may be connected to brain cancer.
  • The average RF energy disposition in children is 2x higher in the brain and 10x higher in bone marrow of the skull

“Although wireless devices sold in the United States must ensure that they do not exceed the maximum allowable SAR limit when operating at the device’s highest possible power level, concerns have been raised that long-term RF exposure at this level affects the brain and other tissues and may be connected to types of brain cancer, including glioma and meningioma.”
