Cell PhoneWi Fi Safety For Young Adults

Cell Phones and Wi-Fi Devices Expose You to Microwave Radiation.

Cell phones and wireless devices emit radio frequency microwave radiation  which was never tested for long term safety. Research links this type of radiation to increased risk for brain cancer. Research also shows this radiation could damage brain cells and could cause sperm damage, wrinkles, sleep problems, headaches, hyperactivity, memory problems and much more.

Some Facts

  • Cell phones and wireless devices emit bursts of wireless radiation as long as they are powered on- even when you are not actively using them.
  • Over a dozen governments and hundreds of medical doctors recommend you reduce your cell phone/Wi-Fi exposure to protect your health.
  • Teenagers are especially at risk from this radiation because their brains are still developing.  Studies show higher brain cancer  risks for people who started using cell phones before they were 20 years old.
  • Research studies show this radiation could damage sperm and the ovaries, impacting your ability to have healthy babies.
  • Many people who reduce their cell phone/wireless radiation exposure find that they sleep better, feel better and are much less stressed.

You Can Easily Reduce Cell Phone/Wi-Fi Exposure

  • Do not sleep with your cell phone or wireless device.
  • Make voice calls with a cell phone away from your head- use speakerphone or an airtube headset.
  • Prefer a corded landline at home for your voice calls rather than a cordless phone. Cordless phones should be avoided as “the base” emits continuous wireless radiation.
  • Avoid carrying a phone or Wi-Fi device near your body– like in pants, pockets or bra.
  • Prefer texting over voice calls. However, even when you text, keep the phone far from your body.
  • Keep your cell phone/Wi-Fi device on airplane/flight mode whenever possible. You can still take pictures, videos and play downloaded music.
  • Cell phones should be OFF in the car. Switch to airplane mode in cars, elevators, trains, buses, planes. Your device pumps out more radiation in metal surroundings.
  • Less Apps = Less Radiation. Aps are always updating, that means more radiation for you.
  • Minimize your overall cell phone and Wi-Fi device use. The effect on our bodies from this radiation is cumulative.
  • Choose wired internet at home by setting up ethernet connections for your home laptop/computer/tablet.

Note: 100% safety means using wired rather than wireless technology as no level of this radiation has been shown to be safe. EHT recommends that cell phone and Wi-Fi exposure be reduced as much as possible for children. Children should not use cell phones except  for emergencies.

Music and Videos

Avoid streaming music or videos on a cell phone or wireless device.  Instead have the music or video already downloaded so you can play the music/video with wireless setting turned OFF. Best advice: Hook up your devices to connect to the internet withwired corded connections.

Texting

When you text, do not hold your phone near your abdomen. Instead, keep it away from your body. Yes, texting results in less radiation exposure than a cell phone placed near your head but because some people send dozens -if not hundreds- of texts a day, texting radiation exposure can add up over time.  That is why we recommend you instant message via a corded (non wireless) device like your home computer or ethernet connected tablet- rather than your cell phone.

Keep That Laptop Off Your Lap

Laptops should not be on laps. We recommend that you use wired connections – for Internet, mouse and keyboard – whenever possible. Wired cable connections will stop the wireless radiation. However, even if you have turned the wireless off the laptop,  the laptop  should still be off your lap and on a table because laptops (and electronics) also emit a radiation (ELF-EMF) from the electricity.  Unplug the charger and use your laptop or device on battery whenever possible.

American Academy of Pediatrics Cell Phone Safety Tips

  • Use text messaging when possible, and use cell phones in speaker mode or with the use of hands-free kits.
  • When talking on the cell phone, try holding it an inch or more away from your head.
  • Make only short or essential calls on cell phones.
  • Avoid carrying your phone against the body like in a pocket, sock, or bra. Cell phone manufacturers can’t guarantee that the amount of radiation you’re absorbing will be at a safe level.
  • Do not talk on the phone or text while driving. This increases the risk of automobile crashes.
  • Exercise caution when using a phone or texting while walking or performing other activities. “Distracted walking” injuries are also on the rise.
  • If you plan to watch a movie on your device, download it first, then switch to airplane mode while you watch in order to avoid unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Keep an eye on your signal strength (i.e. how many bars you have). The weaker your cell signal, the harder your phone has to work and the more radiation it gives off. It’s better to wait until you have a stronger signal before using your device.
  • Avoid making calls in cars, elevators, trains, and buses. The cell phone works harder to get a signal through metal, so the power level increases.
  • Remember that cell phones are not toys or teething items.
