All wireless devices from smartphones to wireless laptops to baby monitors come with FCC warnings that they are NOT safe to use if held directly on the body because the radio frequency emissions can exceed government limits. Very importantly, if you place a cell phone at body contact, you can exceed radiation limits up to 9 times US FCC limits according to reports of the French government after testing hundreds of cell phones.
On this page we have images that you can click on to see the fine print warnings.

Fine Print Warning FAQs
Q: Why the distance?
A: This distance supposedly stops you (the user) from getting radiation at levels that exceed the FCC radiation limits. These devices are radiation tested at the specified distance. They are NOT tested in the way in the ways we normally use them. For example, when you place the cell phone in your pocket or your laptop on your lap you are breaking these important safety instructions.
Q: What happens if you use the device closer than that distance?
A: You may get radiation at levels higher than government allowable levels. In other words, you could get exposed to radiation that could have thermal – heating- impacts. The FCC regulates that laptops and tablets are tested at 20 cm or about 8 inches away from the body. That is why some people get laptop burns when they use their laptop on their lap.
Q: If I follow these distances will I be safe?
A: No. These distances are set for FCC limits that apply to a 220 pound male. These limits do not apply to children. They also do not protect us from the non thermal effects of this radiation. They do not protect us from the effects from long-term exposures. We really need to keep far more distance!
Q: So what should I do?
A: You can be aware that your device emits microwave radiation. Keep as much of a distance as possible and use cords to connect whenever possible.
