Environmental Health Trust Chairman and Director of Government & Public Affairs to Spotlight Scientific Findings Relating to Potential Hazards of Cell Phone Use

PHILADELPHIA — August 31, 2011 – Dr. Ronald B. Herberman, Chairman of the Board of Environmental Health Trust (EHT), and Ellen Marks, EHT’s Director of Government & Public Affairs, will both offer testimony at a House Democratic Policy Committee hearing on cell phone warning labels on Thursday, September 1.  The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at the Paul Peck Alumni Center Board Room at Drexel University in Philadelphia.  Further testimony at the hearing will be provided by Gerard Keegan, Director of State Legislative Affairs at CTIA-The Wireless Association.

The hearing is being conducted to review the Pennsylvania cell phone safety bill (HB-1408) requiring warning labels on cell phones, advanced by former-speaker of the House Pennsylvania State Rep. Dennis O’Brien (R-169) and State Rep. Vanessa Brown (D-190).  If passed into law, this would provide the first state action in the US reflecting growing scientific consensus from the WHO on the potential hazards of cell phone use.
