Skeptical About Cell Phones and Health?

An Expert Panel on Cell Phone Radiation:

The Commonwealth Club of California in San Francisco.

The Commonwealth Club held a panel on December 9, 2013  to discuss recent research on the health effects of wireless radiation, which has been classified as a 2B possible human carcinogen by the World Health Organization.  Research is accumulating that Wireless Technology presents health risks which can be addressed by prudent government policy. Learn about the latest science from leading experts  in these videos from the Commonwealth Club Panel Presentation.

Dr. Devra Davis, President of the Environmental Health Trust and author of the book “Disconnect – the Truth About Cell Phone Radiation,”

Dr. Devra Davis PhD,. MPH introduces the program. She summarizes recent research on reproductive health issues and wireless radiation.

Dr. Lisa Bailey, M.D.,

A Breast Surgeon and former President of the American Cancer Society in California

Dr. Lisa Bailey, M.D., presents evidence from case reports of breast cancer in young women who carried a cell phone in their bras. She calls for more research and increased awareness of cell phone safety.

Dariusz Leszczynski, Ph.D., D.Sc.,

Former Research Professor at the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority

Dariusz Leszczynski reviews cell phone radiation studies with  serious human health implications pointing to the importance of a precautionary approach.

Suleyman Kaplan, Ph.D., M.Sc.,

Chairman of the Department of Embryology, Ondokuz Mayis University, Turkey

Suleyman Kaplan discusses his research studies on the memory and learning centers of the brain. He describes the published results from his experimental research showing exposure to wireless radiation can damage developing brain neurons after prenatal exposure and post natal exposures. His research shows a neurotoxic effect from government approved “safe” levels of microwave radiation. This presentation starts with a Summary followed by his full lecture.

Hugh Taylor, M.D., Ph.D.,

Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and  Professor of Medicine at Yale University

Dr. Hugh Taylor presents evidence from his research showing how exposure to wireless radiation during fetal development affected the subsequent behavior of newborns. His research exposed pregnant mice resulting in offspring with impaired memory, increased hyperactivity and altered brain programming.

Joel Moskowitz, Ph.D.,

Director,  Center for Family and Community Health, University of California, Berkeley

Joel Moskowitz reviews the evidence of the connection between cell phone use and brain cancer taking a critical look at current science and the issues posed by the epidemiological research.

Sushma Bhatia,  San Francisco Department of the Environment

Sushma Bhatia, reports on her city’s attempts to establish a ‘Right-to-Know’ ordinance requiring warning labels on cell phones, despite fierce resistance from the industry.
